Yesterday my family and I returned from a 2 week vacation. While we were gone, a water main line broke and flooded our living room. Family friends came in and moved everything from the living room into either the entry hall or into the Family room.

With us being gone for 2 weeks and the house being torn up with the flood, my cats Cali and Ripley are having a hard time adjusting to the situation. They are not acting like themselves and are very skittish at times. They are also very unsure at times.

My grandpa went into surgery today and cant work on the house untill he gets better. Because of this it will be at least a month before the things get put back to the way they are use too. And the house is going to get worse before it gets better.

The living room is also attached to the Dinning Room. Because the Living Room and the Dinning Room are attached, both rooms are going to need new paint and new carpet. This means that the items in the Dinning room are also going to have to be re-moved. This includes a pinball machine, a juke box, a table with chairs, and 2 china cabinets.

With us being gone for 2 weeks and the house being torn up with the flood, my cats Cali and Ripley are having a hard time adjusting to the situation. They are not acting like themselves. They are very skittish and unsure. Does anyone have any ideas on how to help Cali and Ripley adjust to the changes?????

Is there any way you can close off that part of the house, or confine them to a part of the house that is more-or-less normal?

All else I can suggest is that you reassure them and give them lots of loving. After Mother died, PurrPuss acted odd for a while, and after Father died Zane did also, but they both adjusted.
