is vinegar ok to spread in yards i want the cats to stay away from???

last night after i tried walking my dog in the shadows to avoid possibility running into the condo lady because i knew she was around - wouldnt you know at 1030 I hear my name called - it was her - SEE being paranoid has its reasons....

I will say that i was very pleased with talking to her. Our animal control officer did speak to her 2 weeks ago and she said he made a lot of sense and is even going to have him speak to the condo board!!! She said off the record - i can move the cats into the woods - my plan all along.

So for now shes working with me - i even wrote her a thank you note (to KEEP her on my side) ANYWAY in reference to my question - she said A. Control told her vinegar works - i just havent heard that yet

Any input???? Becuase the pepper didnt work - but i dont know if i need to DUMP it - not just sprinkle it.

THANKS

I'm going to say vinegar would not work. I clean my house with vinegar, and while the cats don't like the smell, it dissipates within an hour or 2.

i would tend to agree, vinegar is too temporary. that said, is there any substance you can put down that would keep cats away? i sure haven't found anything!

I live in the No. Va area near DC.
I hear but have not tried it out, that orange peel and orange oil will
keep them away. Smells a bit bitter and tastes worse I guess to cats...

All the other stuff I hear about that works is either expensive or
not great to the environment.

But surely someone else has more experience than I do!

I used the ground black pepper. I bought a very large gallon looking size container at Sam's Club and dumped it everywhere in a generous amount all around the area. Did not hurt the vegetation and is all natural.

Have heard about but not used, blood meal (natural fertelizer) or coyote urine.

This site says bobcat urine works for cats. http://www.predatorpee.com/ Free shipping listed.

I also read about citrus peel or citrus oil. Orange in particular. Hope you find something that works.
