ok so i have a question for you cat lovers, like myself. My 7 month old kitten Guy loves to eat food. I give him Purina Friskies Wet Canned Food. I have been feeding him 1/3 of the can to eat twice a day and also dry food which i give to him in the morning when i wake up and leave for work. He is a male tabby kitten. The question i have for you folks is, how much should i be feeding him? I do not want to feed him too little or too much. I am afraid he will gain weight and then his health might decline since he is still very young. Plus i dont want him blowing up to be really fat cause i want him around forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated since this is my first kitten and i want him to be well taken care of.

Thank you for your help with this, means a lot to me and Guy.

What size can are you you splitting in 1/3 and how much hard per meal? Are you feeding a good quality kitten food? How about keeping the canned schedule as it is and changing the hard to free feed. I'm no expert by any means but that doesn't sound like enough food for a kitten.

Out kitties are five to six months old.

They get six ounces per day of wet food each, split into four feedings -- so they split a whole small can or a half adult size can four times a day. Plus they are free fed dry, which they definitely eat.

I have no idea if that's the right amount, that's just what we feed 'em. It seems to be about right.

My vet told me that I should try and give Sport 1.5 ounces of wet food per one pound of body weight. It seems to be the right formula for him. I know that each cat is different.
