Well blow me down...
I went to the US Census Bureau site to look up the poverty thresholds and low and behold, I am actually poor! Of course I based that on my income, not DH's, which trust me....I don't get to spend. He doesn't make much more than I do anyway.
I guess the reason I don't feel poor is because we worked hard when we were younger and paid our house off. We financed our first home in 1978 when Jimmy was president and our interest rate was 11.25%. That's right, 11.25% on a home mortgage. Don't believe me...look it up. Since it was so high we put every extra cent we earned toward paying it off, instead of refinancing every time we had a dime in equity. We sacrificed some extras along the way, but now we're real happy with our decisions.
I make enough to get by. I like buying used and restoring older pieces. I'm frugal.
But anyone who wants to just send me some of their wealth directly to avoid the government overhead, feel free. I've got lots of vet bills. Hmmm... 16 dependents. Dang, I really am poor!
The stats are correct, but I'm just funnin with ya.
