We have our budgies that fly free and Butzie has been known to turn a head when they fly (I supervise closely).

Butzie went out yesterday morning for her morning stroll. Sandy Koufax and Whitey Ford are sitting on the cage when Butzie comes back in with a mouse. Mouse is going "eek, eek." Butzie started playing with it, jumping, etc. The birds started watching and were scared - their feathers were flat. Once they figured out that Butzie was only interested in the mouse, their feathers went back to normal. You could almost see them thinking that it least it wasn't one of us.

BTW, the mouse found a sneaker of DH and hid in there. Butzie could not get it and got tired. DH took still eeking mouse outside in different sneakers.

Don't you love the little surprises your cat brings in for you? My supervisor's cat goes to the basement and has brought up frogs, a lizard and a snake. When she brought in the snake, there was a whole lot of screaming going on.

Did you have to clean the birds cages after that little scare?

I'm glad that all mine do is stuff paper into my shoes. A mouse would be too much of a eww factor.
