Today I was at Petsmart getting the girls' food and Blue Spa was on sale. I picked up a couple cans as a treat/new tryout. I opened up the can of salmon food when I got home, and both cats really seemed to like it (even Delilah, who usually doesn't have much interest in her wet). Typically, they are pretty picky when it comes to the wet (they don't seem to like anything with liver in it, for one). A while ago, I picked up a pouch of Whiskas salmon and I remember they gobbled that one up as well.

All along, I've been avoiding seafood as a regular staple of their diet. Occasionally, they get a bit as a treat. However, after reading a different thread, it occured to me that perhaps I don't need to be concerned, given that I have two female cats who don't have any UTI problems.

Would it be OK to include a seafood-based food as part of their diet? Not everyday, but regularly in their rotation of wet food (which they don't eat a lot of at this point).

I try to avoid a mainly fish canned food (like tuna/salmon). Other canned foods my have some fish in them. But not for reasons of UTI - I just don't want them to become "hooked" on fish and only want that.

I feed my kittens/cats chicken, turkey, lamb, beef, duck, venison and very little fish. I've gotten salmon before and both cats didn't want it. They do like the baked fish we sometimes have for supper. That's more as a treat then a meal.

I've given my cats fish flavored wet food before. For some cats, it's not an issue while for others it is. As there is no history of a UTI, I wouldn't be overly worried.
