But you do get the same amount of say in the world's politics. That's what Iraq was (apparently) about. It's what Afghanistan is about. It's what all of US interference in the rest of the world is about - trying to control the politics and governments of other nations.
First, the UN and as far as I recall the rest of the world supported us about Afghanistan. That wasn't about nation building or whatever the hell you want to think it was looking back on it now that makes us out to be the bad guys.
Iraq...well, I'll let history judge that one. It's been debated to death here and everywhere else as to why we invaded it, etc. That's not the point of this thread.
This is the kind of thing that makes people in the US not care what the rest of the world think. Changing history (in the case of Afghanistan) to make the US into the bad guys. That's what I meant by saying that others think we're the Great Satan too.
Just because I know what the rest of the world thinks, that they hold a negative opinion of the US and hate Bush and blah blah blah, doesn't mean that it changes what I think it best for MY country
. It doesn't mean I don't care. It means that I disagree.
Just like I can disagree with people on this forum, but it doesn't mean that I don't like them or care about them.
And for what it's worth, I agree with Bruce on the UN. The world may need an organization like the UN, but the current incarnation is corrupt and worthless.
