I'm so happy

My kitty is finally loosing some weight! Instead of letting her free feed on dry all day I have switched to 1/4 cup dry Core in the morning and a 3oz can of wet when I get home from work. 2-3 weeks have passed and she has lost 1/2 a pound.

Hopefully she continues to loose some weight. The vet would like too see her at 9-10lbs, she is 12lbs now.

My overweight guy lost weight too once the vet helped me determine what a safe measured amount of dry food would be for him, supplemented by wet. He lost about 3 pounds overall and vet was happy. Next check up is next week, so I'm hoping all is still good!

What I noticed as he lost weight is that he became much more involved in playing (rather than laying on his back pawing for the feather toy, for example). You should see him run after the laser toy now!

Good luck!

Howdy,
I've been feeding my kitties Core ever since I found the stuff. It's great. I've found that it really makes for a splendid coat, and we've already noticed a difference in our newest cat who was a stray until last week.

My problem with our older kitty (only about a year old), is that she's so picky that she won't touch wet food that's been in her dish for more than a few minutes. She also tends to lap up the fluids and leave the rest. Core food really simplified feeding because she loves it so much and I can leave it in her dish. We still portion it out very carefully, and we've got a very slim and fit kitty.

=^_^=

Every cat is different. Persi is 12 pounds and Alley is 11. They free feed 24/7 and I weigh them and myself every week. Only one of us is gaining...

I'm so encouraged by this! Snickers is 14lbs and is supposed to be on a diet to get down to 11 or 12 lbs. But so far she hasn't lost a bit of weight. I'm probably partially to blame, because I'm not as strict as I should be since I had heard it was hard to get kitties to actually lose weight in the first place. But now that I've heard your good news and that it can be done, I'm going to be better about enforcing the diet. Thanks for the inspiration!

Where do you get Core food? I've never heard of it. Does Petsmart sell it or do you have to get it at a specialty store?

it is made by wellness and old mother hubbard ... Petco has it and many small stores carry it
