When you have guest, friends or family over do you put up your animals?

Normally we put the big dogs outside in the patio. They tend to want to bark if someone is standing.
Our older dog Tails stays inside.

Most of the cats will head to the cat room or one of the enclosures. Except for Vanna. She loves people! She loves people so much she's dangerous. As long as they are sitting it's safe because she can climb all over them and rub, rub, rub until the end of time if left up to her. If they are standing, that is where the danger begins. Vanna will literally jump straight from the floor into their arms. Whether they want her or not. Or even realize she is coming up.

So normally she is the only cat put up in our bedroom when quest or family visit.

Vanna can stay in the room for me Eva!
Infact they all can.

Mine have free reign of the house no matter who comes, unless it's something being delivered then i put them in the kitchen or conservatory incase they run out. They usually run upstairs as soon as someone comes in, but then Sophies down after a couple of minutes for a nose, then Rosie, but Jack's still timid so he stays upstairs.

Nope, I don't put mine away when we have people over. Usually, the only people we have over are our parent's and that's a rare occasion. For some reason, Kairi doesn't like my parents and so whenever they come over, she usually hides underneath the bed up in the boxspring. Namine loves anyone and she loves getting attention from our parents when they come over.

Awwww......that's so sweet!!

Larry puts himself away.
He's so shy and gets so freaked out around people. As soon as the doorbell rings, he bolts for the closet and won't come out until 3 hours after someone's gone!

My girls stay out to meet and greet the guests and hang out with us. I only put them in the other room when one of my neighbors comes over because she is allergic.

My cats get free reign regardless of who comes over.
Grizzlie knows she can get extra attention from houseguests. Bobber is a bit skittish so unless its my sister or my parents and sometimes one of my SIL/BIL's she isn't seen until they leave!!

I never put my guys away when we have people over! They know we have a mini zoo and if they still want to come over knowing that then they can see my zoo while here!!! Of course this is also the reason why my FIL and MIL havent been over since DH and I got married two years ago!! The FIL hates animals so its not a big loss on mine and DH part!

They all go where ever they want, some are much nosier than others
Last night Davids daughter was here for Dinner, and she's allergic to cats and they were surrounding her

We actually did put the kitties in the bedroom when we had family over for lunch the weekend we moved into our house. Four overly friendly cats are just a little overwhelming and they think that other people are going to feed them

Other than that, they stay out. My grandparents were over for lunch that day, otherwise I probably wouldn't have put them in the bedroom.

nope, they've got free rein unless we know the door will be opening and closing continuously. Zorro always gets up to play with the younger cousins, Sasha will do her best to sleep through the ordeal on her chair

i think one of my very first posts was about the subject.
and the answer No way. i may bend the rules a little like with my brother in law. cause he breaks out in hives from cat and dog hair.

err, like there is not a place in the house that does not have cat hair on it already

ours have free run but all friends and family are fine with that.

if we have workmen in i always ask if they are ok with dogs. i would never force anyone to 'tolerate' my very bouncy, friendly collie if they were nervous.

milo usually comes to investigate but shinobi and tabitha are not very sociable.

Alley hides under the bed when anybody comes over. Persi plays host and becomes quite annoying to other people at times so I hold him in my lap.

They have free range of the house unless it's a issue when the door will be open for a extended period of time as in a delivery or such..
I have visions of Linus making for the cherry tree and swinging around the the top like Tarzan.

Other then that they can meet and greet whomever comes over at their discretion.
For the most part all three are friendly but not overly so, they will hang out for a pat or two then go do their own thing..except for my Aunt whom I am sure they know dislikes cats then all three will park it in front of her and stare at her like she's a bug or something...
It annoys the you know what out of her...

If its someone they know, then they are out. If its someone they havent been around but I know they will love, I leave them out. If its a complete stranger, like someone fixing something in the house, I put them up because I dont trust strangers around them.

I always leave mine out when my friends/family are over. The only exeptions is if I have my elderly grandmother or anyone who is pregnant or ill over- then I put my dogs up in our bedroom, just incase they try to jump on them.

I always leave my cats out- the only time I ever put them up is when my mother-in-law visits. (there's an entire thread devoted to her wicked ways and why I don't trust her around my animals.) When she's here, I put them up in their "cat room" (laundry room) it has a cat door on it that I can lock if need be. When she's over I lock them in there for their own safety and she is not allowed in there. I don't trust her.

Mine can do whatever they want, but if I have maintenance in fixing something I put them in the bedroom because I don't trust them not to hold the door open or something.

As for visitors, I never have any, but on the rare occasion when I do, they can leave if they don't like my babies

I don't need to confine them -- they head for the hills on their own.
Sometimes Fawn will come out and make nice after a while, and occasionally, for certain people, Cindy will, too, but they're free to be wherever they want.
