I was talking to my long time boyfriends father about how utah passed a law that animal cruelty is a felony now and we agreed it was a good thing. Then he was telling me how he needed to put his dog down because he was sick and in a lot of pain. He said something about how he already talked to his neighbor who had a gun. I asked him are you planning on shooting him. He said yes and that he would shoot him in the head so it would be quick. I could never do this nor does it seem right to me. Does anyone else have any opinions on this. He is not a bad guy but he is older and kinda old fashioned. It was actually his mothers dog and he has taken care of it ever since she died many years ago. Also he is on disability for a bad back injury and he only has like $800 a month so he can't really afford to pay for it. I talked to my boyfriend about it and we are just thinking of giving him the money to put the dog down since it is only $35. It just does seem wrong to me to shoot the poor thing but maybe I just don't understand it fully.
