Hello

My kitten Jinxy (5months) is the most daring cat i have ever come across.. she tries to jump in any form of water be it the bath , a vase , the shower or the washing up bowl , she jumps and skids on the work tops in the kittens , and jumps from the top of the fridge/freezer to the top of a open door..

But for her newest trick she can jump on the top of a 3 shelves GLASS cabnit which did hold my mums 'posh orniments' but we have had to move them .. we tell her (not shout or physically hurt her) just take her down and say no.. but she still does it , today she almost fell off it , i was cringing.. i have fresh scratches on me from trying to get her down from , the fire place, tv cabnit , display cabnit , work surfaces , filling cabnit ect!

She has so many toys and cat trees , and scratching posts and 2 brothers 1 sister to play with , plus tons of human company and the tv , there is no need to be doing this , how do we stop her without physical harm and scaring her too much!?!?!

Jinxy sounds like a normal hyperactive kitten to me.

You can try hissing like a mom cat. It may or may not reduce her daredevil stunts but at least she will listen to you.
In the meantime, continue cat proofing your home. Remove the breakables and dangerous stuff.

Definitely a normal kitten. Sport gives me more heart attacks than you could imagine. I have had to help him out of a few situations...that I have no idea how he got into to begin with. But they learn with age, and thankfully, they are cats, so they do sort of bounce.....not like us humans..LOL

I feel empathy for you ....
Jinxy is like a 2 year old human baby, who can jump 20 feet in any direction and on top of that....
he had been blessed with endless curiosity.

My Dexter, who weighs 16lbs and is 8 years old, goes into dare devil mode daily, after his breakfast.
It's like giving him rocket fuel.
About 15 minutes after he eats, it's blast off.....

We must cat proof our homes as much a possible, top to bottom.
Put yourself mentally in Jinxy's place...
see his world through his eyes.
What can you change, in his environment, to make him safer?

Example....
Dexter and Sadie love to sit on the top of our tall refrigerator and watch me fix their food, but ...
the jump from the top of the fridge to our hard kitchen floor is a long one and cats have been know to break a leg from that kind of leap so....
I leave a kitchen counter clear for them, so that they have an intermediate place to jump to before they hit the floor.

Keeping a dare devil kitten safe can be a real challenge...
but don't give up, in time, Jinxy will calm down....a little.

Cool it Jinxy.

My cat is the same! He sits on top of our tall fridge freezer and then on top of the kitchen cupboards, we have a stone floor too so he has the kitchen work top and the kitchen table to jump on
I have had to move loads of things for him! I do say no in a deepish vocie to him but it doesn't always work. Too be honest, thinking about it, my cat has the run of this house, there isn't anywhere he can't really go
All our things that he could ruin have been moved out of the way!
