One of the cats in the neighborhood has decided that he/she likes sitting on the hood of my car... but I have never actually seen the kitty, just the pawprints.

Over the summer - I left my car out on the driveway for a couple of weeks instead of putting it in the garage.. and I came out one morning to find grungy little paw prints on the roof, windshield and hood. DEFINITELY CAT and not racoon or something like that.

Weeks and weeks go by... the car is in the garage now -- and lo and behold ... this morning - paw prints! The garage door had been up for most of the afternoon yesterday so someone must have decided to snooze on the hood. Now that I know this puddums is brave enough to come into the garage for his/her perch, I will have to be careful in case kitty is hiding under a car or something.

It's hard to see the prints - on glass and on the beige car. They just look like smudges. But trust me, they're cat prints.

DH and I have the same problem, but it's our outdoor kitty Max. ...he's not sneaky about it at all.
One suggestion, do your best not to scare this cat if you catch it on your car.

The reason being.....? He/she would scratch the finish?

On my way home tonight, stopped at a suburban intersection, a cat ran across the east/ west road and then darted across the north/south road and disappeared. Traffic was not heavy at all, but I expressed worry about the kitty... but my BF said if I tried to approach it (if I could find it) it would likely run... so....
Poor thing seemed scared. It was galloping across the streets.

Startle and scramble around on the smooth surface of the car - and yes scratch it. That happened to DH's car years ago. Luckily the car had a cow run over it (yes, the cow onto the car
) so the hood was replaced not too long after.
