So it's about an hour before I go out to my university to do something that I've always wanted to do! I'm gonna be planting trees with a park beautification group all morning, and then we're going on a nature walk with one of the ecology profs. I've never planted trees before so I'm super excited
There are going to be around sixty trees to plant, I don't know what kind, but it doesn't matter because we're doing this for Mother Earth
. So wish me luck in that I make friends and have a good time, hopefully there will be other chances to do these kinds of things in the future! I'll tell you how it all went, so see you later!

Pami, I'm gonna get loads of pics up of Quill soon! I've just been busy with other stuff but yes, pics/updates are a definite must!

As for the planting, wow, it was FUN!!! There were forty students, mostly grads, some people from the community who came to help out. Huge improvement, I'm told, from the five that showed up last year
. We started at around 9:00 with a poison ivy/stinging nettle walk to point out where they were (and how to cure the itch in a pinch), then we divided ourselves into groups and started planting. There were oaks, mulberrys, maples, cedars, pines, basswoods ... And a bunch of other native trees that I had no idea what they were. With so many people, it took about two hours to plant them all. After, I followed a few people up to the wildlife building just up the road and we saw the butterfly exhibit which was absolutely mesmerizing (I'll get some pics soon). Anyway, that was the day and I really want to get more involved with this park. It's such a fun thing to do, and what better way to give back to the planet than to plant some trees?
