Our protector

Last night, we had the front door open so the girls could look out through the security screen door and get some fresh air. They love sitting there and putting their paws under the door to get any unsuspecting bug that walks by.

Well, last night I heard Rusty caterwauling and talking in an angry voice. I looked over to the door and she was all puffed up. Outside on the other side of the screen door was a big black cat! Rusty was telling him in no uncertain terms to get the heck away from her apartment! That this was her and Dusty's home and he was not welcome there! The cat ran when I got up to go see what happening. So now we have a watch cat on duty!

We also know when there are cats around for the same reason. Persi & Alley know how to guard the house, too!

lol I've noticed my cat will growl if the front door is open and someone comes near the house that he doesn't know. I swear he thinks he's a dog....

Not so long ago I heard Zane yowling, but it sounded different. When I went to investigate, I realized that the yowling was from outside. Then there was another yowl, from another cat, and the two outside cats started fighting just outside our door.

Zane arched himself like a cat on a Hallowe'en card and started making a wierd growling hissing keening noise that I have never heard from him before or since. I went into another room; it seemed the safest thing to do.

When I still lived back home in Wisconsin, my furbies were growling & hissing & acting up at the door one night. I went to go see what all the ruckus was about - figuring there was another cat by the door - and opened it up to find a possum out there eating the cat food I had put out for the strays.

Another time they were fussing at something by the door, and I looked out to see a snake on the porch.

They certainly make good watch "dogs"!

Our boys get upset when they spy another cat out in the parking lot of our building, even though it's so far away. We have local cats coming through and scent marking the bushes, so when the boys go out for a walk they always get excited by those bushes.

That's so cute. Joey is our protector, he growls at anyone outside and freaks when there is a cat, he makes crazy yowling sounds

Carly will run from window to window to follow the undesirable. She doesn't say anything but keeps a close watch.

That's what Winchester used to do. It was a hoot watching him running back and forth all the time. But now he doesn't really do it much anymore b/c he's gotten too fat I reckon..

My Skye would probably invite the other kitty in for tea and cookies.

yet another reason cats are just as good and probably better than dogs!

lol alright so Mai Sai just did the cutest thing along these lines and I had to add it in. From the back door we can see into the garden of the people next door. Well the today the door was open (with the screen closed) and Mai Sai was looking out. There was a little girl there (their granddaughter) who couldn't be more then five playing in the garden. Well Mai Sai started running to me, and back to the door until I came over to see. After that he would look out the door, run around in a circle and go back to door about 3 times. Then he seemed to get bored and went to sun himself in the living room It was so funny, I couldn't stop laughing. Anyone know what happened?
