I do think it is a bit odd to treat a doll like a baby, but the thing about spending thousands of dollars on the dolls and clothes and things is not that different from other hobbies (especially other doll hobbies!)
For example there is a type of doll called ball-jointed dolls or Dollfies and people spend thousands on these as well and on clothes, accessories, different wigs and eyes to customize them with and etc...
I collect "scary dolls" so I guess I can't say those are creepy because the dolls I collect are intentionally so. Personally I think that old/antique dolls are more creepy than the dolls I collect which are supposed to be scary or horror based!
I had to laugh when I read the second post in this thread because I just got back from taking my cat Church out on a bike ride, and he was wearing a sweatshirt (because it's a bit cold.)
He loves going for rides, loves the fresh air and all the smells and sights and it's one of the few ways he can safely go outside.
