Do you have an ocicat now? I noted your username. I tried for two months to buy an ocicat for my wife. I mean I was all over the internet and here on TCS and had no luck getting one in time for my wife's birthday. I like the scottish fold too. May you have better luck finding your dream than I did mine. So, I suppose now you are going to tell me I could have got an ocicat from you?

Well it is funny you noticed my username. I call my cat the little ocelot all the time because when he stretches out or looks at you it looks a lot like an ocelot. Although he is black he still looks like a little ocelot to me
. I doubt he is an Ocicat though.... I dont know what Winston is. But you know they are beautiful cats.

I have seen scottish folds at cat shows and they are cute. I always said I would get a Sphynx once we had a house.
I had a breeder and she quit responing a month ago.
Some of the other breeders in this group helped me lok for another breeder and kai bengles got me a breeder.
My kitten is coming in Dec.
Try posting on the breeders board.

Back in the 80's I had 3 Scottish folds! 2 folds and a straight ear. They are very sweet little cats!!!! If I had a scanner I would post pics of them. Shatazar was my first scottish fold and she was beautiful. I took her to a few shows and she hated them. She got her winners ribbons and wasn't going to go any further in that arena! Bless her heart. I lost her to cancer when she was 6 years old.

They seem like darling litle cats. Dont know much about them though. You could never get mad at one with that cute innocent look.

I have always been fond of Scottish Folds - as, until the hybrids began popping up, the only other non-straight eared breed in the world, besides the one I have - American Curl.

I've known, many years ago, Fold breeders...they really are a lovely breed - whether you get a longhair or shorthair one

I know they can have problems with stiffening in the hind legs and tail, which can be very painful for the cats. And they shed a ton because of the BSH outscrossing.

The ones I've met have very sweet, laid back personalities.

I think the suggestion to get a retired show cat is a good one. Not all Scottish folds born will have folded ears, and not all of those with folded ears will have the best examples for the breed. Personally, if I were planning to get a Fold, I'd want a retired show cat (and an LH!) I wouldn't be willing to compromise on those cute little ears!

Me too, me too! Apparently it's a bit of a challenge in the tropics to keep folded ears folded (Scottish, not ACs) so, me, being very contrary would love to prove the naysayers wrong!

Both ears are shown over here, as Scottish Folds or Scottish Short/longhairs. I do prefer the look of the folded ears.

Interesting that they allow both in the show ring. Here the straight ears are kept for breeding to the folded ones, so I would imagine the ones that are straight eared and do not fit the standard well enough are sold as the pets. With Folds, both "types" are important. Most other breeds you can easily get pets as you are lucky to get a few show types in any litter.
