This is Pirate, my shetland sheepdog. He thinks he's a cat.

Awwww!
How sweet! My husband's family used to have a sheltie, but he passed away before we were married. We've thought about getting one sometime, but we'd kind of like a larger dog...maybe a collie so we still have that gorgeous fur!

what a sweet boy he looks like!

I love grooming these types of dogs too...it doesn't take much to make them beautiful!

We had a basically black/white sheltie female, Shane. But she was a pretty large size for the breed. I'm sure she came from backyard breeders. We got her thru the newspaper - owner passed away and the rest of the family didn't want her.

She was spayed and one evening someone stole her from our yard. We looked all over, posted signs; thought we saw her at another house, but then she disappeared. We never did find her. Probably someone thought they would breed her - it was during a time that dog nappers were going around stealing dogs from yards.

When was that? I had a dog disappear years ago; he was a gorgeous B\\W siberian, and loved everyone. He also loved to escape and run the neighborhood, but the day he disappeared, no one saw him; he was the kind of dog who went visiting the neighbors, and their dogs...everyone knew him, and called us when they saw him, but not the day he disappeared. If they were going to breed him, too, they were out of luck, as he had just gotten neutered...but who knows what may have happened after that to the poor guy.

Sorry to hear about your dog disappearances.

Pirate is an indoor dog, so it's not very likely that someone could snatch him.
I wanted to share this other photo of him caught sitting on the back of the couch with Little Kitty.

My (or my parents) very first dog was a Sheltie. I was soooo young I cannot remember what it looked like for sure but I do remember its name: Red. My step-dad always used to get angry because Red would not come to him when called. I knew exactly how Red felt because I didn't want to go to my step-dad when called either.
