I did about five hours worth of math homework last night and I'm seeing numbers in my sleep.

We've been working with order of operations and exponents. I keep seeing problems with scientific notation in my head (which I like solving). Word problems are the hardest part for me when it comes to writing out the equation for the problem. I don't always get it right. I do better with the word problem that contain formulas (such as d=rt; I=Prt; A= S/N; etc).

Our second exam is next Monday.

Laureen, that sounds about right.

This is the first night in a while that I really don't have any homework to do. I started on our next algebra lesson for tomorrow but stopped when I got to the new stuff we haven't gone over yet.

This is my favorite problem so far:
The mass of the Earth is 13,200,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 pounds and its volume is 38,250,000,000,000,000,000,000 cubic feet. What is the density of the Earth, in pounds per cubic foot? (Density is mass divided by volume.)

1.D= M/V

2. After a little scientific notation it looks like this:
D= 1.32 x 10^25 / 3.825 x 10^22

3. The answer (after rounding to two decimal places) is: D= 3.451 x 10^46 lbs per cubic ft.

Man, that's good stuff!
