A friend is coming up on that time in her child's life and wants to know what the going rate is?

Any part of the world is welcome - she's actually in Australia, so getting the world conversion rate would be good, actually.

Thanks in advance!

At our house, the Tooth Fairy usually leaves a dollar (sometimes a unique dollar coin) for regularly lost teeth, and $2 for extractions!

My sister usually gives her children a few dollars for each tooth they loose.

WOW $2 for a tooth? That is so unfair! I think $0.50 is more than enough doesn't matter how wealthy the tooth fairy helpers are!

Our daughter always got a toonie ($2 coin) or a loonie ($1 coin) and a small gift. I really don't know how the small gift tradition started, but daughter said she thought the Tooth Fairy brings a small gift and somehow it happened.

Well, its been about 16 years since I lost a tooth, but I think it was .25 or .50 cents a tooth. It really depends how they lost it, what the kid is like. I was (am) very scaredy cat about teeth, so the more traumatic the more money.

Now days, I'd say 1$ a tooth...as long as they donmg loose too many at once!

My young siblings get $5-$10, pretty good increase from the 20c we got as kids.

I always got $1. My stepson gets the same. Seems to be the norm around here.

My niece recently lost her tooth, while she was staying with me. I asked her how much the tooth fairy usually left and she told me $10.00.

Mine get a toonie and a thank-you for good brushing. or if it has a cavity they get a toonie + new toothbrush, floss, a little tube of toothpaste, and a note that better brushing is needed

This is DH's comment to that one
