Help - I have taken care of two lovely cats since November. The owner is now ready to take her cats back to there original home where they have lived for ten years. She came to visit her cats last night - not having seen them since May - and they acted as she was a complete stranger, one hid under a chair then moved to hide underneath a table. The other sat on her lap for 5 minutes but didn't look too happy. Does anyone have anytips for reacclimating them to their original owner?

Well as long as they are still with you the switch will not be as fast as you want it to be. Also, they seem to have gotten very attached to you.
Their owner will have to treat them like new cats once they move in with her. I am sure the cats will familiarize themselves with the old place in no time.

Our boy Harley came to us in May, the first month was a rough one. Harley was in the shelter for four long months before we found him and prior to that he lived on the street--at least that is what the shelter has told us. He struggled to adjust to life out of a cage and to trust us.

When hubby is gone for more than two days Harley has a hard time remembering who hubby is when he returns. Bless his little heart he's has so much heartbreak in his short life.

I think in time the cats will do just fine and remember.

That is a long time to be separated from your cats, but it isn't they don't recognize the owner, but she smells different. Traveling, she picked up different scents she isn't aware of. Perhaps she was wearing a new set of clothes bought during the trip or wearing a new perfume. Once the cats get back to their home, they may be shocky for a few days, but if they are in their old home, they will come around. Just have her keep an eye on them if they miss the litterpans or stop eating, they will need to see a vet.
