Uncle Dorian, Dorky Fish, Dorian Grey....he's been moping for months now since
Damita died. I was hopeful we could just slide through without him being this miserable, but he's been crying a lot more than he used to for 5 months now.

Tonight, I caught him like this with Molly

He has a new girlfriend.

Dorian was always Damita's "seeing eye cat", she leaned on him a lot for 2 years or so, then they grew apart....he still took her death hard, it's good to see him with a new snuggle buddy.

(As for Molly, her herpes is flared up yet again despite lysine....there's no eye infection, her eye just drains not normally....need to get her into vet for referral to specialist I'm afraid
)

Then Molly moved to lay like this, comfy looking, no?

And I just looked over again, her paw is stretched downward. Those two are adorable.

That's awesome news. It's sad that he's been crying and it's that obvious he's grieving.

Glad he's hooked up! Go CAT

Oh just how cute was that!
Cats do mourn and it is so sad to see. But Molly seems up to being his lady friend.

It's nice to see him finding comfort in Molly's presence. They look sweet together.

Pixel [my herpes cat] has a similar eye issue - it's even the same eye! one vet told me she had a blocked tear duct & that was the problem. however, this was prior to her herpes diagnosis. anyway, even when she's showing no other symptoms, that eye drains icky brownish stuff. i can get it clean, but she so hates it that i usually just settle for getting the dried-on gunk off.
btw - eye envy works on getting it nice & white looking - she just hates for me to use it.

Thanks for the tip Laureen! The vet is pretty sure it's a blocked tear duct....and that there isn't a whole lot you can do about it.

the vet that told me that said if she ever needed surgery for something else, it could be unblocked at that time. however, since it's not really a problem [other than a cosmetic one] he didn't recommend surgery solely to fix it.

I've got that exact same issue with Clyde. It looks horrible, but he cleans it when he thinks he needs to, and maybe if he goes for a dental, we can get the tear duct unblocked. I think it's actually pretty simple - just enlarging the tear duct "hole"?
