Anyone done it?

I've got a couple of photos from my holiday that I love, and would love to have them printed to canvas since I love canvas pics.

I've found a bunch of websites that do it, but it's a bit expensive so I want to do it right.

What makes a photo translate to canvas well? Is there any particular options I should get? I saw there was options of canvas, paper, or sticker surface - I assume I would want canvas? What are the paper and sticker surfaces like? I also like the "Gallery Wrap" option, so I think I'll go with that.

I like the look of the website PhotoGonia - anyone know about them, or anyone else who is good?

I definitely prefer Gallery wrap to the edged versions although it increase the price quite a bit usually.

I am limited by having to find companies that ship to Canada so there are probably better ones out there.

As far as looking good, they need to be fairly high contrast as they look duller on canvas, and of course high resolution.

We used http://www.updone.com/ for some recently and they were decent quality and service. We just had them printed and rolled and made the frames ourselves to save on cost (and you can do a gallery print like this if you make the frame smaller without the extra cost the printers charge) and also have them done at a local printing place which I prefer as he has reprinted it because we were not happy with the first one (even though the image needed editing on our end not his).

I've never done it, but would be interested to see how it turns out.

I use www.mpix.com for all my photo processing. They were recommended to me by several of my contacts in the hobby that have their photography as a side job and have their prints done through mpix.

I had a 16x20 Canvas on Double Weight Matboard print done through them that turned out fantastic... it ran me $31

& really I dont miss the fact that I didnt do the gallery wrap/stretched canvas (which is weaker than canvas on double weight matboard...) but if its REALLY what you want... its a neat effect... but... like I said... I dont miss it, $31 I have an amazing 16x20 canvas board print... it would have been $90 for the wrap around kind
