Well, I just got back from my yoga class a little while ago. I'm going to grab something quick for lunch then take Bailey in for the vet to just give her a little check up and make sure she's still doing ok. Can we get a few "please have a good, non eventful checkup" vibes???

I hope everything went well at the vets. Thank goodness you are there to help, and watch over this poor little angel. Many coming to you, Bailey, and your whole family

Nothing but good updates

The vet visit went quite well. Bailey did well on the car ride there and back too so that was good. She was so excited to see the vet that she tried to wag her tail (despite being pretty sedated lol) It was cute! The vet is so sweet to! She gave me a big hug and told me she was so glad she was doing so well!

Her temp was normal
Her incision site is healing beautifuly and the vet said that I can increase her ID food just a little bit- so nothing but good news here today- I am soo thankful
I'm going to take her back on Friday just for another little checkup so the vet can see her again. Granted the nature of her surgery we're just being very cautious and keeping close watch over her. Her stitches will come out in about 14 days or so just depending on how she does.

We increased her pain meds a little bit as well to try and take the edge off better. Her old dosage just wasn't cutting it for her pain wise- so now that we increased the dose a bit, that should make her feel much better!

When I got her home I gave her a few more spoonfulls of her ID food (w/ her pain pill snuck in there lol) and some fluids - she did wonderful. Right now she's sleeping:snore:

I'm going to leave my house in a few minutes to pick up my niece Taylor so she can come over and spend some time with her for a little while tonight.

Thankyou so much everyone for all of those wonderful TCS vibes! Please keep them comming- she's still got a long road ahead of her!

Taylor came over for a few hours tonight. She had a school project to do so we made an animal cell and a plant cell (I am still trying to get all of the super glue and clay off my hands
) We went to Hobby Lobby (arts and crafts store) earlier to get the supplies for her project and I swear we ran into half of her classmates
I know what the 7th grade class at her school is doing tonight!

While she was here she spent the whole time at the kitchen table beside Bailey's cage so she could be close to her
I showed her how to feed her a little of her food,so she got to feed her a little tonight as well.
I think it does Bailey good to see her family so much....that way she doesn't feel like she's been abandoned. (She's used to seeing me almost every day anyways though and they lived with us for about 6 months several years back so thankfully she's really been good for me too.
)

She just had another dose of pain meds and antibiotics at 10:00 so she should be settling in for the night now. I gave her a few more bites of food and water too and she's holding that down well. Still no BM's yet (but that's normal after this kind of surgery) It may still be a few days before that happens...the vet said it shouldn't be too painful for her when it does though because of the meds.

Thanks for all of the wonderful prayers and vibes everyone
Keep them comming!

(I'll try and get Colin to post the pictures I took of her when he gets a little free time- she looks pretty pathetic/adorable with a big cone on her head
) I also have a few pictures of the blanket she ate

Thanks everyone for all the vibes and kind words. Just wanted to update quickly before I head off to sleep. Bailey is dong well.
She had her first BM a few days ago (it's a VERY good thing she did because we were worried some of the blockage might have been missed since she was taking so long to "go") so all is good now! Her incision site looks excellent, she's right where she needs to be as far as the healing process goes.

I didn't get to take her to the vet today for her little mini-check up (please note the thread about me wanting to strangle my nephew in the lounge
because of his little stunt, I had to reschedule her for Monday).

Bailey is now able to eat more of her ID food and yogurt and is handling that very well. My two dogs are VERY infatuated with her, they try to give her kisses through the bars of her cage and sit right near her cage every chance they get- it's prescious!
Bailey also finished off her Cimetidine (antibiotic) the other day, so now she's just taking 4 different meds every day instead of 5.

The only thing that she's driving me nuts over is the dumb dog wakes up at the crack of dawn every morning and starts HOWLING at the top of her lungs...not to use the bathroom, not for company, just to be howling
So I have a system worked out for now- I leave the radio on low for her at night and sedate her good before I go to sleep. When she wakes us up howling, I go in there and take her outside then feed/water/ and medicate her again and put her in her cage. At that point I let my two dogs out of the bedroom (they sleep in the room with us at night) and then they go in the kitchen and hang out by Bailey. That seems to work well so far- they keep her company and it shuts her up so I can sleep more

i have just read through the whole thread and i'm delighted to see that bailey is doing so well!

my rb lurcher was a chronic chewer (brought on by insecurities from his previous owner) and we were so lucky that the worst he ever had was a tummy ache.

if i was to work out the price of all the things he destroyed and food he stole it would run into alot of money over 12 and a half years!

still, they are worth every penny and i send some continued good progress for precious bailey.

Bailey is doing good tonight. She's only down to 3 meds now so that's even better
I'm taking her back to the vet tomorrow for a little mini-checkup

She seems to be having more and more energy with each day, so now she's not liking staying in the crate so much! I've been putting my dogs up in my bedroom and then letting Bailey out of her kennel to walk around a bit -I'll sit down on the living room rug and she'll come lay down by me and just relax a bit. It does her good to stretch her legs a little and get lots of attention.

I have great news

I picked up my sister Kimmy today and she went with Bailey and I to the vet for the check up. Bailey's incision site has healed up so well that the vet went ahead and removed the external stitches today!!!!

I'm still going to keep the e-collar on her for a few more days because we don't want her licking or aggervating the incision area, but so far so good!

We're still keeping her on her sedatives and meds though as she's still healing a good bit internally and has a long road ahead of her.

If all goes well though and we don't have anything else come up, she will be going back to my sister's house to be with her family this week!
