Well, well, well. My little feral kitty, Miss Scaredy Cat, seems to be deciding that maybe people aren't so bad after all. For the last couple of days, she's been hopping up on the stool next to my computer desk to get a little pettin' and purrin'. That's a long way from the kitty that hid under the bed for four days and ran from me like she had seen a ghost.

Then, last night, guess who hopped up on my bed, right next to my head, to get her back rubbed. Yep. Miss Scaredy Cat. First time ever.

If she keeps this up, we may have to think about changing her name!

Yeah. Scaredy Cat is really coming around. We had a little setback with an eye infection, extra trip to the vet and then trying to put ointment in her eye several times a day eroded some of the trust.

The big change is that she is coming to me and initiating petting sessions. I'm not terribly surprised. She has been following me around for a while, but very stand-off-ish requiring me to initiate petting.

Next up is to work on getting her to interact with my wife. After a month, my wife has still not touched the kitty.

So, my little feral Scaredy Cat has taken to hopping up on the stool next to me at the computer for some petting. It's easy to tell that she's not used to interacting with people, but she's started to really like petting time.

So for the past week, we've been playing a iittle game. After a little petting on the stool, I pick her up and move her over to my lap. She stays for 30 to 60 seconds and then hop back to the stool.

Today, held out a curved finger and she hopped over into my lap from the stool. Stay for a minute or so and hop back. She did it three times, once even lying down in my lap for a bit.

Meanwhile, our ultra lovable but rambunctious kitty Bubba, Jr. scratched the living hell out of my wife's arm She picked the cat up under his belly when he was walking on the computer keyboard and he freaked.

There is nothing more wonderful than the trust of a feral cat. You know that any affection or trust was earned.
Continued success with your kitty
I hope your wife will be ok
