They are minting coins with Obama as President. I would say that is a tad presumptuous since he hasn't been elected yet, but whatever.

All Hail Emperor Obama.

What are they going to do with those things when he loses big in November?

Considering I am a coin collector, I will get mine if he does win. So thanks for the heads up!

One would think that they would, at least, have the coins made in America.
I mean, give us poor Americans the work.

I think they're having their own problems in the north of the UK and could use the work thmselves.

From what I see and hear from our Canadian media, Obama will be your next President so someone has just done some long-range planning.

I think the key phrase is "Canadian media". Theres a long way to go. I'd be very surprised if Obama wins....

Wow, now the Canadian press is determining our Presidential election.
Who knew.

I wouldn't be surprised at all.

They've probably got as much chance at guessing the outcome as anyone else. And I must clarify that those are my personal and humble impressions from the media - not necessarily fact. Kind of like what I have been seeing in the many political threads in IMO - nothing much has to be fact, just opinions and impressions.

Well, that's one thing I certainly won't be wasting my money on!

Hey when he gets elected in, his head may well be on your coins anyway, somewhat like the Queen is on ours.

Touché, Linda! The bloggers and their uncritical readers are driving partisan opinion.

I may buy a couple of them. Win or lose, they may turn out to be worth something someday as collectibles.

Of course, my father is still disappointed over the collector's market for "Billy Beer".

lets think, we all heard the same thing, about, dukakis, gore, kerry.

This doesn't sound like a political decision but an economic decision. If the firm makes money off them more power to them. It is done all the time in business. The superbowl is an example that comes to mind. They have commemorative gear with the name of the winner right after the game. Had to have been done before the outcome is known. According to the article they have already sold 300 and are poised to mint more if the demand is there. So really it sounds like they are poising themselves ready to see what the market would bear. Not that they aren't probably rooting for Obama.
