So.....

Why do cats like the sound of paper bags that move

but they don't like the

sound of tin foil that moves?

Both move when stepped on - but the sounds do differ. Tin foil has a higher pitch.

Oh, and tin foil balls don't count

It's a texture thing. Foil is smooth, paper isn't.

you know, its odd but mai sai doesn't like paper bags, he LOVES pastic bags though, set one down and he run into it at full speed, he will even lay clamly while you carry him in one. only problem is to make sure they are all put away where he cant get to them when we aren't around

Maybe they know from experience that sometimes plastic bags contain yummy treats and great toys, so they prefer that sound? Stab in the dark hehe...

Arwen adores plastic bags, she loves the rustling sound they make when she climbs inside them...and she chases the 'bag mice' that live in them too

Riley will climb and stomp on paper, plastic, foil, whatever. He likes it all

It's just one of the *many* mysteries about cats

As I'm writing this there is a shredded paper bag next to me. My cats definetly prefer paper to plastic, unless they're chewing on plastic bags.

Very true, just another mystery of cats......!

you can take a scissors and snip the tops of the bag handles for safety

Those cats are very cute. Sort of like Halloween cats

Boxes, bags, and other containers are not safe in my home...Lol!

They really don't care for foil though...

Mine have never seen tin foil on the floor! Maybe I will try that on the kitchen counter!

Sunny plays with anything, paper, plastic or foil. He doesn't have a favorite. He also plays incessantly with my reusable grocery bags. I keep them in the kitchen in a little nook and he strews them all over the house. He's a chewer and will chew on absolutely anything.

My aunt's cat ate plastic (from plastic bags we think) and he was sick for over 3 days! but he's okay now. that was like 6 months ago. being a young cat helped i guess. he's only about 4
