Not sure if all cats are wrinkled if shaved completely. They may be a little (if anyone has shaved/lion cut a persian, you'd know).

I'm certainaly not gonna shave Ling or Charlie to find out

The B&W is cute, I think the black will really stand out on an adult. I'm not sure if a tortie would look as good in a sphynx... Unless the red was really strong, otherwise, wouldn't be as noticable as the coloring on a B&W.

As to choosing one....I'd probably ask the breeder about their personalities...what are you looking for? active? cuddly? etc. I could tell when my two orphaned kittens were ~5 weeks old that one preferred to be handled and cuddle, etc. while the other did not.

As to the wrinklieness (is that even a word?) of "normal" cats... My adult SH cat that licks his hair off (Toby) had some "folds" i.e. where his belly meets his leg, etc. but I don't think he is wrinkled like the kitten... Wouldn't the wrinkles just be a sign of extra/loose skin that kittens have and "grow into"...I know their neck skin is loose so that the mother can move them without harm...

Thanks,
I wrote the breeder back and said I will go with the black and white cat.
I am waiting for a reply.

My first question would be... why is he posting pics of the B&Ws and not the tortie?

My next question is... is she a "tortie" or a "calico"? Meaning does she have defined patches of skin color or is it more peppered looking?

I have just spent some time googling images of ADULT sphynx cats and checking out their colors. Even though I do like red cats and torties and calicos, the one with hair... I dont think a bald tortie's color is defined enough without hair. A bald calico looks pretty though.

Anyway, congrats on on finding your breeder! Good Luck waiting patiently for December!

I'm happy to be reading this thread.

Glad to see you're able to get your Sphynx kitten from Ed. He's a good guy, good breeder and a great TICA judge. Where better to get a cat from?

Congrats to you!

Fantastic news! I have been following the saga and I am so pleased for you that it looks like it may be working out for you

I wish I knew whether haired cats were as wrinkly, it's a question that has been bugging me since I first saw a photo of a sphynx! I tend to think that fur weighs the skin down and gravity therefore pulls it down a little more, meaning it's less wrinkly on top and a bit saggier on the undercarriage. My fully furred boys all have a little loose skin underneath, whereas photos I have seen of sphynx have wrinkles and a slight abdominal fat pad, but not much loose skin on the lower abdomen - but then the photos I see tend to be of young show cats so it's hard to tell.

Well, personally, I'm a sucker for a tortie... I love the 'tude!

But maybe once you see the tortie kitten you'll make up your mind.

Hoorray for the new kitten! So happy it is happeneing.

I dont know what a tortie sphynx looks like, but the black and white #2 looks cute.

And, Holly got shaved quite a bit when they spayed her recently and there were no wrinkles. I dont think most cats are wrinkly.

Thanks,
I am getting the black and white and will send the money to hold her tomorrow. I never so wrinkles on any of my girls when they got fixed.
Coco once lost must of her fur when she was sick and there were not any wrinkles.

Congratulations
I'm glad you chose the black and white, there's an adult tortie being shown here and the colour is no where near as dramatic as black/white.

been thinking about A name for a black and white (especially a low white)- Coke Float or Pepsi Float (depending on your preference!). I'm sure you get it right?
