Over the river and through the woods...
So, I started my second week of PT for my back, going twice a week. The first week wasn't bad at all because they just gave me mild stretching exercises to stretch out my back muscles and used the TENS unit on it. The stretching helped a lot and my back actually was feeling pretty good...until today.

Today, they decided to start back strengthing exercises. Now, I understand and it makes perfect sense that the stronger your back muscles are the more inline your spine will stay. However, understanding it and liking it are two different things because these are muscles that I've babied for over a month and they weren't all that great to begin with. First they put me on this elliptical machine (I think thats what they called it) which basically makes you feel like you're trying to run underwater and not getting anywhere. Then they had me do all these leg lift exercises and back bending exercises that KILLED my back muscles. I wanted to tell them I couldn't do a back bend when I was 12, I sure has h*ll can't do one at 38! Even the TENS machine didn't do much because I had a hard time getting out of the car when I got home.

I know I'm just sore from using muscles I haven't used before and the more I do it the easier it will get and the healthier I will be, but I just wanted to whine a little bit.
I'm dreading getting out of bed tomorrow morning....

Been there, done that.
The first time I was stuck on the treadmill, the second time I was put in PT I said I wasn't having any of that and was luckily spared the treadmill and elliptical machine.

But as a said elsewhere, if you don't use those muscles it only makes things worse. In between PT sessions you should get out and walk some if you can.
