So I have been in my GED classes for a little over a month. Things have been going great. When I first started the test I took a battery of pretests and averaged an 8.8. Last week I took another test and my score was a 12.9 I got a nice cert. that hangs on my wall from class that says I have completed a level. Yesterday I was given the whole practice GED test minus the English Essay part. I don't have the paper on me but you have to get a 420 or a 480 to pass each part of the test (5 tests total). Here is the results of the pretest yesterday.
  1. Social Studies- 700 missed one question
  2. Science 800- aced it no missed questions
  3. LA, Reading 800- aced it no missed questions
  4. Math 500- missed 5 questions
So on the 7th of Oct. I am taking my reading and science test. I would take social studies as well if I had the money to go ahead and take that one but I am not sure I will. We will have to see how high the bills are this month.

Math I still need a wee bit of work. But I thought people might like an update on how its going.

How strange, it's not tested in separate parts here. The person just goes and takes the whole test. I think I've heard that it only costs $50?

Sounds like you'll pass with no problems. Your writing ability in your posts suggest you'll pass that part too.

Its not so much my writing ability I worry about its the commas and what not.

As for the cost yeah it has gone up. 12 years ago when I first started trying for my GED it was 7$ per test, which brought the total to 35$. Now its 19 per test, so thats 95 for the whole thing.

Good news is my husbands work will reimburse me ,well him, the cost of taking the test. So really once reimbursed it will be free.

A little hint about commas. They usually go where you would pause in a sentence, or where you would take a breath before continuing. It's not always like that because there are always exceptions to the rules, but for the most part that's how it is.

That's fantastic!!! Seems to me like your going to be just fine on those tests!

When I was at my last job I had a student working on hers and her tests were split up and she was doing them a couple at a time while taking classes to learn what she needed to. I've never seen someone work so hard for something. That reminds me...I need to send her an e-mail and see how it's going!

I took my GED 2 years ago.. was in classes for 7 months before I felt comfortable enough to take the real test. It cost me $86 I think (but I'm in Canada).. and I took them all at once. The split it up over two days.

It was actually a lot easier than the GED classes were. I found anyway.

Good luck!
