Simkie,
So sorry about your pets.
I am afraid I will not have Coco much longer.
I lost 2 cats in the last 10 months.
Yoshi from KidneyStones and maybe Fip and Stormy from Kidney failure.
I had no idea she had it.
My Care Credit is still full from that and we went over the limit.
I was trying to save money and was going to wait on Cocos blood tests.
I should have got them in July when the vet suggested it. It would have been less then Er.
The only thing Coco had before she turned 9 was Asthma.
At 9.5 she became very sick and almost died.
That was her first bladder infection.
They do get more problems as they age.

Is buster coming home today or staying longer?
Buster is still at the vet, unfortunately. They don't want him to go home unless the blood decreases in his urine. I think they are planning to give him a shot of Buprinex today. I think he's going home on Thursday after the ultrasound doctor checks him out. I think his hospital stay is costing me $100.00 per day (with the sub-q fluids twice per day).

How is Coco doing today?

Thanks,
Its a Blood Presure Test.
Her Blood Presure came out high on Friday.
I feed her wet and dry food because the vet said its ok to feed dry also.
I sure do not Busters problems to get to his Kidneys.
It will be real complicated with the food for Coco.
She is on the urinary food but she may have to be on the Kidney food.
The Vet said that is a problem.

I just want to scream! The vet is telling me now that an ultrasound costs $430.00 and they did another urine test, which costs $155.00. This most recent hospitalization will cost me $1000 or more. I think I will have spent $4000 and I still don't have a diagnosis. I just don't know what to do anymore. I feel as if everyone is taking advantage of me. I don't have an income because because psych internships don't pay. I don't even have any money left to do surgery if it is needed. I may have to euthanize Buster.

I think they are taking advantage of you.
This makes me so mad.
Wow are they jacking up the price?
What type of urine test did they do ?
Was it a Aerobic Culture & Sensiivity test or the other urine test?

I think what they are doing is, at the very least, incredibly unethical and very possibly illegal.

Did they provide you with an estimate when you dropped off Buster? Something that you had to sign? Did you sign anything authorizing ANY treatment they deemed necessary when you dropped him off?

Could you pick him up and take him to mews2much's vet this Saturday?

It sounds like you are in a very affluent area and your vet is used to client who can and will pay *anything,* within reason or not. What you are being charged is not within reason.

Can you tell them that you did not authorize the additional test and you refuse to pay for it?

I just don't have the energy to fight anymore. I feel as if Buster has a tumor and will die. I am falling apart right now. I've been crying all day. I feel like an idiot for not getting an ultrasound a few weeks ago. He'll have the ultrasound tomorrow but I'm freaking out.

Do not blame yourself.
You do not know if he has a tumor.
I think the problem is your vet and I do not like how you are treated.
I was told today that Coco might have thyroid problems and she has high blood presure.
Was his thyroid checked?
The vet told me today that sometimes a bad thyroid can cause bladder problems also.
When did his first bladder problem start?
I do know how you feel.

I'm so sorry to hear that Coco has high blood pressure and possibly thyroid condition. We're both having really bad weeks. I hope there is treatment for thyroid. I know that Buster had a blood panel done a few weeks ago and there were no indications of any problems. His bladder problems started in August.

I should give you my phone number so we can talk. I have unlimited free long distance and I think we can offer each other some support!

The vet said it would be a good idea to get an ultrasound but I freaked out about the cost back then. I thought we could solve the problem with antibiotics. Unfortunately, his problems have escalated and I hope it's treatable.

P.S. Please send your number and I'll give you mine too!

Hi guys, I have just read this thread and it is criminal the way that they are dealing with your unwell kitty. I really feel for you both in such difficult situations. I am thinking of you and your kitties and I really hope you manage get to the bottom of these issues and reap the rewards of your kitties back to health. Gosh, I can't imagine how difficult it must be and how heart breaking. You are obviously great people who love your cats dearly. Sorry that I have no advice or experience, I just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you both.
