Hey Guys,

I havent been on here for a while so hope you dont mind my rant, i just wasnt sure what else/who else to talk to.

Things just seem to be going for bad to horrendous(Sp?) Lately.
I had 3 cats, Bayley who is now 3, Joey who was 2, and i got a litte kitty in March from a rescue centre, shes about 11 months old.

Well in July Bayley got poorley so i took him to the vets, they did Xrays on him as he was walking funny, anyway it turned out he had a damaged uretha, i have no idea how he dont this as all my cats are indoor kitties, but anyway he got better after anti biotics and metacam. In Aug, my beautiful little boy Joey becomes ill, he basically went from being a big, cuddly cat to literally skin & bone within a matter of days, still i thought he would be ok, i took him the vets on the Wed, then back again on the Sat as he was still ill, they kept in over night, i got a phone call on the Sunday morning and my worst fears were confirmed, Joey had passed away in his sleep, he had liver failure, i still dont know why or how he could of got this.

Sooo, nothing else can happen i thought.... NO, now Kizzy, my rescue kitty becomes ill and looks blind in one eye, so i take her the vets tonight and he tells me she may have Leukemia or FIP (or is it fyp?) Anyway he basically tells me there is no cure, and if it is the latter then Bayley will probably have it too as it will already be in his system, im guttered i know i will probably have to have her put down, looking at her and from what the vat said he cant do anything for her. The thought of losing Bayley is too much, im terrified he will start getting ill. I get he blood tests back for Kizzytomorrow see we will see.

I just dont know how much more of this i can take, i feel like everything is fallin apart around me and there is nothing i can do about it

Sorry for going on, just didnt know where else to go. xx

Aww hon, i'm so sorry
That's a lot to go through in such a short span of time

What symptoms does your kitten have? There are two types of FIP (wet and dry). Knowing which one she has can help you understand what might be going in her body a bit more if that winds up being the diagnosis. If she winds up having leukemia- there are many people on this website that have gone through that diagnosis that i'm sure would be happy to talk to you
Leukemia is a good bit different than FIP so make sure you have an absolute diagnosis from the vet before you start worrying over it hon

Did your kitten recieve regular vaccinations? What about your other cat? They should have been tested before being vaccinated (part of that includes testing/vaccinating for leukemia). If they are all current on their vaccines i'd be more willing to suspect FIP than Leukemia, but without a diganosis it's just a guess. Whatever the outcome I wish you the best

Please try not to think the worst right now - even if Bayley was exposed and there is a risk that he could develop it, it's not 100%...he may not necessarily develop FIP or Leukemia even if that winds up being the diagnosis in the kitten.

In the mean time...get you some Tek-Trol spray....it's a very good disinfectant...spray down your house, and all of the things they've come in contact with on a regular basis. It also wouldn't hurt to start adding L-lysine as a supplement to their food (it helps their immune systems).

L-lysine (I prefer the powder- you can just sprinkle it on their food, it's easier to give than some of the liquids.

I don't have any advice, but I'm really sorry about what you/kitties are going through. I hope your cats turn out to be OK.

I can only imagine your heartbreak, hon... I'm so sorry for your babies. But Nikki (StarryEyedTiGeR) knows her stuff, and I'm sure her advice is sound. Don't give up yet!

Thank you all for your messages, i called the vet today, the good news is that he tested negative to FIP, and he does not have leukemia, they want to test for feline peritonitis, im not sure if this is the same as FIP though? I dont know much about it at this stage so im gonna do a bit of research, but this is what the vet said he wanted to test for anyway.

StarryEyedTiGeR ~ I assumed that she sis have her vaccinations as she came from a rescue centre, i really wish that i had double checked this now

Her symptoms started with her left eye, its went sort of shadowy if you know what i mean, like she sort of looked blind?! Its hard describe how she is, sort of withdrawn, just not her normal self.

Im still so worried Bayley is going to get whatever she has, ive been bleaching everywhere since i came home from work

xx

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
That's excellent that he's clear with that test Carrie, so just another hurdle to cross

I googled Feline Peritonitis and all the sites were saying the same. I know it's hard, but try and not look into it too much until you get the other results back though

Well last night i had to make the hard decision to put her down, i would neverhave dont this but she had gone downhill while i was at work and knew i needed to get her straight to the vets, it looked like somone had shaved from under her chin right down, her fur had fallen out, couldnt lift her head up.
It seems as soon as i got her into the vet she just gave up, she also had alot of blood coming out of her by this time, it was horrific

So the vet said in her opinion putting her to sleep would be best, i sisnt want to prolong my babys agony anymore, she was dieing
