For two weeks now, gas has been the equivalant of liquid gold. Stations are running out for days at a time. Yesterday, I sat in line for 25 minutes before it was my turn to gas-up. I pumped $9.45 and the gas ran out. That gave me enough to drive elsewhere; elsewhere ended up being 20 miles away. I found a gas station that had it and got in line. Mind you, the line spanned into the right hand lane of a four lane highway. The attendant was walking car to car to inform us that it would be an hour wait at the very least. A lady had parked her car to go get a soda so when she came back by my car, I asked if any cars were even moving and she told me that the pumps were tearing up and the ones that were working were pumping a drop at a time. So, my 20 minute wait of not moving was all I could handle. I drove up the street about 3 miles and found a hole-in-the-wall gas station and was able to get gas. It took me about 2 hours total to find gas and get back home. In the meantime, I talked to a guy on a motorcycle on a ride from South Carolina and he said it was nothing like that down there, everyone still had gas. It is a scary situation to drive past so many gas stations and see paper bags over the pump nozzles. Most places that do have gas is limiting people to $20 worth so that everyone has a fair shot of getting a little bit of fuel.
