I posted a cottage picture thread before, but here are more pics from this weekend.

I've been using a new lens for my camera and I'm starting to get the hang of it. I was practicing on a few insects....

This little one was the size of a piece of rice! It was really hard trying to get it in focus because it was moving so much!

This bee wouldn't stay still! But, finally I got a reasonable pic focusing on its eyes.

A flower pic from this weekend. Even though the flower is long past its bloom, it still looks quite nice with its bronze petals...

Lots of seeds on this one....

And of course, I can't forget Gigi and Steve! Enjoying the view out the front window.

Overall, we all had a wonderful last weekend of summer.

Thanks guys.
This weekend I really learned to be patient while taking these pics. Patience is not a strong suite of mine, but I'm slowly learning.

I don't know that much about those types of lens...how close do you have to be when you take those pics?

I love the one of the bronze flower

Amazing shots, well done. I showed my son & he couldn't believe you were just practicing. Keep them coming.

I almost missed these...I thought it was the same thread as the cottage pics!

I love that bee's eye! That's amazing!
Are you getting more used to the bigger lens?

I'm currently using the Canon Digital Rebel.

The lens I purchased (100mm) allows me to be further away from the subject. So, it gives you more working room, that's why the bees didn't go flying in all directions when I took the pic. I sat a little distance away to get those shots. The flower is my favourite as well.

I'm getting used to it, but don't adore it.
I used the tripod for a bit but it was a pain to keep adjusting it. So, these were all done by hand, so I am improving. I'm thinking of buying a gorillapod (Click Here) and ditch the tripod.

Yes - it is worth getting the gorillapod - my friends have one and they use it all the time and I have tried it - its great! You can wrap it around things - its a funny little thing
And so easy to pack.
