We just got our new kitten yesterday and she seems to be pouncing on everything (toes, fingers, toys, food, her tail...). Is this just a stage that all cats go through? or is she just scared and defensive in her new home? She was very friendly to me at her previous owner's place and would frequently jump on my lap and take a little cat nap.
Now, whenever i touch her she puts her claws out. She might be playing but i thought maybe the two were related. I want to spend time with her and try to get her to relax here, but i'm not so sure she wants all this attention just yet. Let me know what you guys and gals think.

It sounds like she is playing to me. All kittens are pretty energetic. She may already feel at home and is exploring everything. Once they are tired of playing and need a little cat nap, they usually curl up in thier favorite place. Usually a lap is the best place. Try getting a feather teaser and play with her without hands or fingers. See how long it takes to wear her out. Kittenhood is great as long as you can keep up with them..LOL
