Cameo was born June 8 and given to the Humane Society. I adopted him on July 31st. According to his/their records..he was given his 1st kitty shot on July 21....so:

July 21......1st kitty shot......6 weeks, 1 day old

Aug 23......2nd kitty shot.....10 weeks, 6 days old

Sept 19.....3rd kitty shot......14 weeks, 5 days old

The Vet told me that he needs yet another shot....because he needs to be 'boosted' until he's 16 weeks old.

Is that true? I've never had a kitty given more than 3 of their necessary kitty shots. When he gets his final shot, he'll be 18 weeks old.

Of course, they keep reminding me of his Rabies vaccine....I am hoping to get out of having that one done...but we'll see.

I agree with the shots during kittenhood.....do you think 4 are too many?

Thank you!!!

some will have a fourth shot since the baby was under 8 weeks at the first one and likely still had mom s immunity ...

I would Highly Highly suggest that you call another vet and ask them their thoughts

Completely agree, I would definitely get a second opinion about the fourth shot and also about the rabies shot. Your kitty will definitely need one but I'm not sure if they give it to them when they are so young.

As far as I am concerned...4 vaccinations are one too many. I agree with getting a 2nd opinion on it.

And as I know it, the Rabies shot is a legal requirement in many states in the US, and given at 4 months.

Oooh, just realised you're in Canada - is it a legal requirement where you are?
