Hennessy wants to go outside. Badly. But I won't let him roam about, it's just not safe! We're on a VERY busy street! And he's too friendly... someone would take him home!

So I got a figure-8 harness and leash and we went outside now and then, he likes it, but today was the second time he's gotten out of the harness! Now consider, we're in a new home that we've been in for three weeks. He's never been outside here. And when the semi went by he wriggled free and bolted. I was panicked, but he got halfway up the driveway towards the backyard, hesitated and then ran back to me and to the front door, pawing at it to be let in.
So he's calming down in the chair in the foyer and I need a different harness!

He's about 15 pounds, a big boy. Would a H collar work better? Or a Roman Harness? Or any other ideas?

My boys are both over 13lbs and wear Roman (dog) Harnesses, never had a cat escape one yet.

try the walking jacket. I heard that one is the hardest to slip out of. My girl cat and another male cat I knew slipped out of a roman harness with ease.

Usually what I do is put two different harness styles on my bengal when I walk him. A H style on and a roman style harness. The two differing harness makes it difficult for him to wriggle out of both when spooked giving me enough time to grab him before he makes a fast break. He has yet to slip out of both ^__^. knock on wood.

PS: hoping to get a walking jacket maybe for christmas to try and see how that works.

Having the front loop go around the shoulders rather than the neck seems like it would be an advantage.
The Come with me Kitty looks like a variation of a Roman Harnesses, and the pink one is Roman. the reason I like them is like you said - they don't go around the neck.

I picked up a Roman Harness for Hennessy yesterday (couldn't find anything remotely like a walking jacket, so if this doesn't work I'll buy one online.
) He didn't get out of it, but he didn't get spooked either.

We'll see, thanks for the input!
