Hurricane Ike blew through Indiana on Sunday afternoon and we lost our power. It just came on about an hour ago. We were in the dark for 54 hours... it was so weird. I did get to spend tons of extra time in the barn with the horses though!

It's sooooooooo good to be back!

Wow 54 hours is a long time to be without power..The most I have ever had was 33 but that was several years ago when the power grid went down in Ontario, Quebec and part of the northern states...
Glad to hear everything is back up and running...

Glad you're back too! Wow I just don't know what I would do that long without power! Except I know I'd get lots of sleep!
You know, it makes me think though. I really need to prepare. We don't have hurricaines or many tornadoes here but we are prone to earthquakes. I need to check all my flashlights, get more long burning candles etc.

Glad to hear the power is back on! The longest I ever went was 3 weeks!! A typhoon came through (in Guam) dec 8th, and I didn't get power on until new years eve. What REALLY made me mad was the store 2 doors down, and the house on the other side about 3 doors up had power after 2 weeks. I was on a different power grid and they didn't realize the transformer hadn't been fixed there yet. Yeah, they aren't real bright there.

yea, are power went off saturday night, and did not come back on until 10 pm sunday night,,

I talked to my sister in texas, she lives north of huston, she is still without power, and was told it would be 2 to 3 weeks before they got it back.

Wow, we didn't lose power but got three days of rain. I'm glad you got your power back.

Well, the power stayed on for 12 hours and then went out again this morning at 7 a.m. just as I got to the barn to feed the horses. Just came back on a little while ago and I'm hoping it stays on this time!

It was so frustrating not knowing when it would come back on. They were telling us it would be 3-7 days before it would be restored... we were lucky it didn't last the 7 days.

The little town just a couple minutes from here never lost power, so we were able to get out and get ice (before it all sold out!) for the coolers to put some of the food in. But for the most part, we lost all of our food in the refrigerator and freezer minus a few things.

Due to not being prepared, and the stores selling out fast, we basically lived on bread and potato chips for three days
