A sticky situation for first time kitten midwife!!!

Well, my boyfriends cat is expecting any day now. Her poor belly is soo big, and babies are starting to push up into her ribs!

I have never dealt with having kittens before, and she is an outside cat 100%, and I am so worried about her and the babies!!! What will we do when they get up and start moving! How do you make outdoor kittens, inside kittens!!!! I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for a first time kitten midwife

I am so excited for her to be having them, but also concerned. We set up a little nest for her in the shed.

We dont know when she got pregnant, but I can feel babies moving alot, and i think her milk has come in. Any ideas how long it will be before she has them, or anything I need to make sure that I do!?

I am so anxious!!!

Is there anyway to get her inside?

I wish I could take her in, but we have a dog that goes insane and I am so afraid of Tiki (the dog) scaring her, or getting in to where Momma will be, or her stressing Momma out too much. I have inherited her through my boyfriend, and she has had a litter before, and they were born outside, but there were only 2, and I (the worry wart) was not around to see it. When she had babies before she made a nest in the shed, so that is why he suggested making a nest for her in there again.

I want to bring her in soooooooo bad, but he says no

Do you have an extra spare room to confine her inside. Or a large cage/crate? Its really better if you can get her inside and safe so you can monitor the kittens. Having kittens outside is not a good thing. We had barn cats - you wind up losing more kittens when they are not inside and safe.

While the shed is somewhat safe, she probably will either have them elsewhere or move them and you won't find them. Willing to bet she had more then 2 and it was only those left you found.

Plus if you can't at least put her into a large dog crate inside to have her babies and live until she can be spayed, then she will just immediately go out and get pregnant again. This is not only unhealthy for her but not something you want to let continue to happen. Who knows what conditions the males are in that she mated with. She could now be FeLV or FIV positive and creating unhealthy kittens...

Please spay her when this litter is weaned. Whether she is pregnant again or not.

She will be. Like i said I just became involved in their lives. I have found a local place that spays for $40. So it will be done.
