My username is mrblanche. However, that is NOT Mister Blanche, no matter how much my students thought it was.

The "mr" is actually for my initials. My first name is Mike, the MOST common name in the United States.

Now you know.

Did somebody call you Mr. again?
I happened to know your M was Mike, is it really the most common name in the US? Since you mentioned it, I've got a neighbor named Mike. Nice guy.

Michael is the most common given name in the U.S. It wasn't for two or three years, recently, but it has regained its position. The second most common is Robert, my middle name.

What is the most common given name in the world, and the most common last name?

So you're saying it's a good thing my middle name isn't Simon?

Isn't the most common name in the world Mohammed? Is this a test? Do I get a prize if I win??

By the way, I've never met a Mike I didn't like.
Well ok, maybe one, but I mentally blocked him out.

The US though. Mohammed isn't exactly an American name
But I've heard the same thing about the most popular world wide.

But honestly I thought Taquisha was the most popular

By the way if you wanted people to not call you Mr Blanche you should have made your username m.r.blanche and you'd be set!

He did say the most popular name in the world, not in America.

OMG...Taquisha???
I would believe it though.

I hope I wasn't the person that made you start this thread
I just noticed that in another post I referred to you as MrBlanche, but now I will remember to capitalize the R or use all lowercase like your forum name actually looks lol.

Since you guys are talking about popular names...I want to say that I think everyone for some reason named their child, if it was a girl, (I'm exaggerating a bit) Amanda back in the 80's. In every single one of my classes in high school and middle school there were at least three of us per classroom. That got a bit annoying. Wish I would've kept going by Mandy all along. My dad says he named me after the waylon jennings song rather than the Boston song (I think thats the other band that had an "Amanda" song) so maybe I'm special from the other ones that were in my class in that regard lol

He asked what the most common given name in the world was as well

And yes, Mohammed is the worlds most common first name, and Li is the worlds most common family name. I don't think there'd be too many Mohammed Li's though (comparatively)!

Micheal Robert White? That's your name? Or is the Blanche a given?

Li, Lee, Lai and variations thereof for most common surname and Mohamad (and variations thereof) most common name.

Not common, infact rare, first names and last? Mine own!

Correct on the common names. Blanche is my last name; the family were Huguenots who left France around the time of the St. Bartholomew's Day massacres and went to Denmark, along with most of the rest of the intellectuals and entrepreneurs. They emigrated to the US in the late 1800's. At that time, the name was LaBlanche. Got changed at Ellis Island.

Just call me Mike. That will show you are "in on the joke."

I wasn't upset; I just don't want everyone to think I'm that stuffy!
