My neighbor has friends in Galveston who are cat breeders. They rode out the storm rather than leave their kits. Made it through but lost their roof and now ceilings are caved in. They are in process of loading the cats (over 50) and coming to stay with my neighbor. If you could take in 30 cats or so, I'm sure it would help!
Just kidding, of course. All cats will be staying at my neighbor's who already has about 25 cats of her own. I'm the catsitter for the neighbor...I think I will refuse if she asks me to sit any time soon. Luckily, she has a large cattery, which she will clear for the refugee kitties.
I really feel for the furries who are lost/left out in the elements with no people to care for them.
