It has been one month since I had to have my beautiful cat pts.

I thought it would get easier, but today has been especially hard for me. I have a 2 year old daughter and today she said my cats name for the first time. She had never said her name before, and today she started calling all the cats- and she called for her. That was really hard and sad for me. She will never know my cat.

My cat was 11, and she would still be here with me today if I had only noticed she had an abscess. By the time the vet found it, it was too late. He said she had blood poisoning and was too far gone. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. She was an indoor only cat and I never, ever thought she would get an abscess, or a cut, or anything like that. I do have multiple house cats, but I have never seen them fight. Play, yes- but no fighting. I thought she was sleeping more because she was getting older. I never thought in a million years that she was hurting.

I have been telling all the cat owners that I know to look their cats over every single day. Check the areas you would never suspect. If you have a long haired cat- like mine- make sure you REALLY check them. My cat had an abscess on the inside of her upper leg, in an area I wouldn't have checked even when petting her. The least I can do is try to help others.

My cat was fine on a Sunday, and put to sleep on a Wednesday. It happened so fast, and I miss her more and more every day. I hope she knows how much I love her and how sorry I am.

it does get easier, but the pain will always be there - just not as everpresent, or as sharp.

Yes, she knows how sorry you are, but she's okay now and I am sure that your precious daughter's sweet voice saying her name was heard up all the way up to Heaven

I am glad that you are reminding all of us how good cats are at hiding their illnesses. At least you chose to do the humane thing and gave her the gift of a painless, peaceful passing - the truest act of love can be letting go at the right time, a difficult decision that only love can give us the courage to do
