I got my cats a laser pointer and they have been playing all night. Teddy has especially been playing hard and is panting like a dog with his mouth open and tounge hanging out. I've never seen a cat pant before. Milo seems fine and isn't panting at all.

Am I just freaking out?

My Tomas will do this over feather wand toys. He gets extremely worked up and just runs around too much.

All I can say is make playtime a little shorter, take a break, play a little more later. If you see him start panting or getting too into the play - switch to another type of toy.

It made me nervous, too, because I could hear him pant and gasp for breath a bit. Strangely, when he plays chase with Sho all around the house he doesn't pant.

Yea, I noticed he was getting a little too worked up so I put some fresh water down for him in the kitchen... and the tiles are cooler for him to lay on.

However, my boyfriend thinks it's funny. He got him panting again after I went in the other room and then brought him in to me panting VERY heavily. He thinks it's perfectly fine since he has dogs.
.... lets just say he's sulking in the living room right now and I'm not speaking to him. I might be over reacting, but Teddy is my baby. It just really freaks me out to see him like that.

Thank you. I really needed to hear that.

My Samson did that as well...and still will do it. The Vet said that it was perfectly okay. It was also a hot and humid day. But he has done it on not so hot days as well. It must be just him because it's the first time I've seen any one of my cats do it.

It isn't unusual, I guess....but I would still be careful...he's my baby too! I know how you feel....
