I was just playing with Squee and a feather. I put the feather on her head, and it fell off. She stood up on her back legs, grabbed the feather, and ate it before I could get it out of her mouth. It was a purple one off a feather toy, and it was about three inches long. I know cats eat birds in the wild, but do they eat the feathers? Will Squee be okay?

Should be fine - my cats have probably eaten the equivalent of a pillow by now and nothing untoward has happened!

I am sure she will be fine, it's the long fluffy feather boa type things that you have to watch for as they can tangle in the intestines, a short bird feather is not so serious

Just keep an eye on her for the next few days, if you see any signs of discomfort (sitting hunched etc), constipation, or puking, then a vet visit is required, but I doubt it will come to that. I have a medium sized parrot and it's difficult to stop the cats eating his shed feathers including his long flights (about 5" long), and it's never caused a problem.
