He might have got her. We had a hamster get out years ago and the cats got him.
They left him in the hall dead.
We also had one get out once and we turned the furnace on and it smelled.
We never knew why until years later we found the Hamster in the furnace mumified,
I hope your cat didnt get her but he might have since you saw blood on his face,

Yes they can vanish, I had a hamster back in my teens, i had no cats in the house, i lived on the 4th floor of an apartment complex. We had no holes in the wall and it just vanished.

At the kitty's beck and call
We've had three escape over many years. We discovered one had escaped in the middle of the night when it had, somehow, managed to get behind our fitted wardrobes and was scurrying around.

The second one, we found behind a unit, it had thoughtfully chewed up the corner of the (brand new) carpet to make a comfy nest. Nice

The third one that escaped we found sitting quite happily INSIDE the sofa. It had crawled underneath, eaten a hole in the webbing on the base of the sofa and climbed inside. We had to take the webbing off, retrieve the hamster and then reattach the webbing to the bottom of the sofa.

Good luck finding it

Hmm. If you can get Henry to rest in his carrier for awhile and put some hamster food and water out in the middle of the floor, maybe she will reappear?

Oh noooo.... Why did henry have blood on his mouth? Did you check for wounds or a sore in his mouth? I would think that if henry got the hamster he would have left it somewhere. I do hope the hamster is ok and no harm has come to it.

Try isolating Henry for a while and put a couple of plates of peanut butter out on the floor. I had hamsters and gerbils when I was young, and they would occasionally get out. My mom always caught them within a few hours with the peanut butter. so Henry didn't mistake him for a mouse...

I was going to suggest checking inside the sofa and also inside the box springs of the beds. We had an old box spring when we first got Harley and Monster as kittens and they both disappeared one day. We tore the house apart but couldn't find them. We finally figured maybe our roommate didn't shut the screen door and they managed to get out. The next morning they were in our room crying to be fed (the door was closed). We finally realized they made a new hiding place in the box springs and were safe and sound the whole time.

How old is Henry? I thought he was still a kitten. I don't know if he could have killed the hamster, but he may have injured it and it could just be in hiding. If he had killed it, I think you probably would have found the evidence.

Good luck and let us know if you find him!

thanks for all the advice &

After the upheavel we decided to move the furniture around, and have a proper sort out, leaving the kitchen till last,

On moving the freezer, I suddenly freak as I see a very forlorn battered Belle wander out very slowly,
I make a grab for her to turn & bite, realising she is injured (she has never once bitten!) my DH threw a towel over her and we grabbed her up, And had a look, her face was swollen, and she was bleeding, her ear torn to, her left eye is half open

I immedatly rung the emergency vets to get advice, On following that I put a cold compress on her face and cleaned her up, Belle once realising she was safe cuddled in as much as a hamster does, shes makin strange little clicking sounds at the moment, we will be taking her to the vets first thing in the morning to get her checked out

thanks again for all the advice and help!! It means a lot to know there are people out there willing to listen and & offer advice! I would have gone mad if I had no were to sound off to! (well I did that anyway!!)
Its stupid how such a tiny lil thing can have such an impact on your life! Never thought I would get emotional over a hamster till now!

heres a pic of the lil runnaway looking a bit battered, you can see a slight mark by her eye in one and the torn ear in the other

Awww bless her, I'm so glad that you found her. Hopefully the clicking noises will be nothing more than the fact that she's feeling stressed right now.

Lots of vibes coming Belle's way that she begins to feel more comfortable soon
