I seriously need help with moving the litter box out of my room and into the bathroom. I would not have an issue with it if it weren't for the fact that it stinks when they go poops. I can be dead asleep and the smell just wakes me up...ugh. I tried moving it out but Nico whent to my room and pooped by the area where the litter box was. I had to bring it back to my room because he was pooping on the carpet everyday. I have been having this issue for a while now and I really need to get him moving. Kiddles doesn't care where she uses the litter box as long as it is somewhere where she can reach it. She doesn't have a problem sharing litter boxes nor those Nico. How do I go about moving the litter box to the bathroom?

Move it slowly, inch by inch. It make take a month to get the box to your bathroom, but the cats will know it's their litter box the entire way.

Even if you didn't have two cats, I'd suggest having two boxes since you've got a pretty picky litter box cat. Can you think of two places (bathroom and living room, for example) where the short-term feces smell won't bother you? Having two boxes decreases the chance that your picky cat won't have a litter box in the right place in the right condition.

Sure, it should stink a little when they go but not a lot. What are you feeding them? If it's a food with a lot of filler that might be the cause of the excessive stinkiness. Litter brand plays a part, too.

We currently have a litter box in our bedroom. Not ideal but surprisingly I don't notice they're pooping until I hear "scratch, scratch, scratch, scratch" (to which I say "Enough already, it's buried!"
). If I'm unlucky enough to be right next to the box when occupied, then I'll smell something.

They are on Whiskers dry food but I am going to switch them to Blue Spa Select. As for litter I use Fresh Step clumping litter. I am moving the littler box a couple of inches at a time and I think Nico is using it now that I have placed it in a new location.

Hm, check out the health and nutrition section. Some people aren't that impressed with Blue Spa - which I admit, is a little high priced for a few of the ingredients in it, but it's not an awful food.

After they get on a higher quality food for a bit things should settle down. If you notice really stinky poos and gas, try a probiotic like bene-bac or Eagle Packs holistic solutions.

Good luck on relocating the litter box. I've never had a cat who was that picky. I've even had one of mine use the litter box while it was empty (no litter, I was fetching it from the garage) and sitting in the middle of the floor. Tomas has also hopped in and tried to use it while I was carrying it.

A good, cheap food is Kirkland Signature. Do you have a costco membership? Its 13$ for a 30 pound bag and its not a poor quality food. Its not the highest quality, but we have had amazing results on it!
