So my kitten is about 5 1/2mo. He used to get really playful around 8pm. I have noticed over the last week that he sometimes doesn't go into his crazy mode tearing through the house every night like he used to. He still does sometimes it's just not as consistant. He seems to sleep a lot more that he used to also.
My questions are: Is it normal for a kitten as they mature not to play as much? And how much do cats really sleep during the day?
He is eating okay, although it seem he may not be eating quite as much. He still plays, just not as much and he is using the litter box fine.

As they mature, they usually play less. They're still prone to what some have called the "10 o'clock crazies." They also eat less.

However, if you think you're seeing a significant and fairly sudden change in behavior, it might be good idea to get a vet checkup.

My Tomas, who's nearing 2 years old now (wow, time flies!), must have never gotten this memo...

I agree. A quick vet check up never hurts. You can check with the vet to make sure he's progressing/growing well right on schedule too.
Has he had all of his shots and been neutered yet?

Nor has Zane, the furry rugby ball with legs.

You have a furry rugby ball? We once had a furry quoit, who loved to be pushed around the slick floor with a broom.

As long as he is 'normal' otherwise, your kitty is probably just 'growing up'...

My kitties get occasional super crazies (picture five cats, of varying ages, up to almost 3 years old), that tell me they are still 'normal' even though the kittens don't play so much as they used too. It's like they are now in their 'perfecting sleep' stage...but bring out the catnip, and everyone wakes up!!Lol!

Right now, all the felines of my household are snoozing in various places; I have one on my legs even...If anything is always 'constant' with cats, is that they have snoozing down to a T. Of course, who knows WHAT goes on when I am gone...which is why everyone gets locked in the kitty room now, when I'm gone...
