Nearly 50% of all kittens are born breech. No big problem.

yeah it's ok. it's out and mom's licking the snot out of it! YAY. man it's so tiny! I thought it was dead at first.

mom licked it clean but the chord is still there. the kitten is meowing loud but i think it's ok. Don't i need to make sure she moves it to her nipple?

Congratulations Dad!
Now, BREATHE!

Check for afterbirth, she may or may not eat it, it's all good. Now you'll have to wait anywhere from 5 mins to 1 hours for the next one!

This is when that "sandpaper tongue" comes in handy! Of course, you have no way of knowing if she's had kittens before; first-timers sometimes have problems.

well she isn't doing much with it. lol she hasn't chewed through the cord yet and the baby isn't being licked anymore. I hope that's OK. i thought she'd be fussing over it.

Have your scissors, dental floss and betadine handy..you may have to go to work. Leave it be for a few minutes if she does nothing, cut the cord and dry baby off. Put baby to her nipple, baby should know what to do!

If you want to be helpful, you can move the kitten over to her belly, but don't pull on the umbilical cord if the placenta has not delivered yet.

all i have is scissors. but mom's started licking again. man this thing doesn't look like it's got much hair on it. hehehe. Also it pooped already. A baby after my own heart.

No placenta yet. I'm just going to let her go. she seems to be fussing. man this kitten has loud lungs heeh.

I'm a wreck i know.

I said I wasn't going to respond again but I put my laptop right necxt to her so I can type and gawk at the same time. Got some pictures too

lol. it's irritating because the baby keeps rooting around and even if I put her RIGHT next to a nipple she doesn't grab on

You're sure it's a her??? Don't you worry, babies will latch on and it seems like s/he wants a specific nipple, that's all - sounds male to me!

My guess is that kitten is going to be either orange or white. Orange, I think. Odds-on male.

Is your camera hooked up to your laptop??? Mom cat looks like maybe more in there...relax, have a drink or something...it's going to take awhile!

I refuse to guess on colour until everyone is out and dry - mom's a brown mac tabby though!

oh her belly is HUGE. i think there are at least 4. I could make out that many bodies in her.

I'm a computer geek so I've got every toy in the book. I have a flash reader on the laptop and just grabbed the card and put it in to import the pics.

I have an HD vid cam too but I don't think I can spend that much time just filming.

She still hasn't chewed off the cord yet, or delivered the placenta. is that OK?

Yes, for a bit longer - she's resting, no more contractions right? baby is nursing?

Forgive me, I've got to make some coffee now if I'm going to be around for the long haul! Be back in 10 minutes!

Well. I don't think she's hit a nipple yet. No contractions right now, no. She's trying to nurse but mom keeps licking her and she ends up at her buthole
