I just got a call. It was the driver from Handi Transit that drove me home from the library.

He and his wife are from Trinidad and he picks me up quite frequently and sometimes we have the greatest discussions about his culture and food. My friend is from Guyana and turned me on to West Indian food decades ago.

Anyway, his wife made Roti and Pepper Pot and cook up rice and peas last night. He got his pickup list yesterday and saw he was picking me up and asked his wife to pack up some food for me

He forgot to give it to me when he dropped me off, so he stopped by between pickups to drop it off!

I can't wait for dinner!!

It was delicious! The pepper pot was different than what my friend introduced me to and what I typically make. The one I have had is like a meat stew (beef and pork) minus the veggies. The one he gave me had chicken in it. But it was yummy. The roti was some kind of curried meat, maybe pork, with chickpeas. I'll have to ask him when I see him again.
