In the last month or so, Cleo has become the neediest cat I've ever seen! She's a little over 8 years old, and has never, ever, been a lap cat....never cared much for any attention at all, except at feeding time and sub-Q fluid time. In the last month, whenever I sit down...(and I mean every time) when I'm sitting at the vanity putting on makeup, at the computer, when I'm using the potty, at the dinner table)...she's either pawing at my leg or squeaking to get my attention, or just jumping onto my lap. She stays there until I get up. She purrs the entire time...which is also something she rarely ever did. I just don't understand this complete turnaround. Does anyone have any idea why she's doing this? Nothing has changed in her world...no new pets, furniture, food...nothing I can think of at all. It's not that I don't like it...it's great! I just don't understand it!

Honestly, you should have her checked by your vet. Her neediness could be her way of trying to tell you something is wrong.

That's what my Samson did before I discovered he was very sick. He would sleep with me the whole night through and usually he would only do so for a part of the night. He was also crying to me to be held and cuddled more than usual.

Excellent point! She does have renal failure, but it has been under great control and her numbers have been very stable since diagnosis when she was 6 months old. It's probably time to have her bloodwork rechecked anyway. I think I will try to get an appointment next week. Hopefully, it will just turn out to be a "well baby check-up!"
