This is not hot off the press but I just ran across it in the latest FDA Veterinarian Newsletter.

Hartz Mountain Corporation of Secaucus, NJ, is carrying out a firm-initiated Class I recall of 888 bottles of Hartz Vitamin Care for Cats and Kittens chewable tablets. The product, which was distributed nationwide, tested positive for the presence of Salmonella.

GK I agree- I learned the hard way about some of the Hartz products but just in case someone hre on TCS might use the stuff I wanted to give them a heads-up to be cautious.

I have heard really bad things about Hartz. I have never used any of there products, but I am scared to because of everything I have heard. Thanks for the heads up! My friend loves the brand I will have to make sure she know about this!

Good heads up for anyone who may have purchased that product.

I can't think of anything that I've actually heard, but for some reason whenever I'm in the store to buy anything for the animals it's ingrained into my mind to never buy anything from Hartz. I won't even buy seemingly harmless things, like toys, for my cats if they are made by Hartz.
